Aerotek’s Hartford Office Volunteers at Special Olympics
On June 9th, 20 employees out of Aerotek’s Hartford office joined roughly 4,000 volunteers in making the 2007 Summer Games a success for the Special Olympics of Connecticut. The Hartford employees volunteered their “sweat equity” at the Aquatics event which took place on Saturday, the second day of the three-day event. Aerotek is a leading world-wide staffing company that is headquartered in Hanover, Maryland since 1983. In addition, Aerotek provides volunteers for Special Olympics events across the nation.
Contracts Manager Sean Murphy was one of the volunteers. “[Participating] allowed our staff to give back something to the community and it helped to bring our employees together as a team.” Murphy and other office members helped to time heats and escorted athletes to their events and to receive their awards.
The event took place at Southern Connecticut State University and more than 2,000 athletes and 700 coaches participated in the games. “Watching the athletes compete with such pride, enthusiasm and dedication was a truly rewarding experience” notes Brenna Dussault, Account Recruiting Manager. Contracts Manager Dan Dubay was impressed by the athletes’ enthusiasm as well. “Even though they were competitive they were all about having fun. They really showed the true meaning of sportsmanship.”
“It was very fulfilling to see the looks on the athletes’ faces on the medal stand. Regardless of the outcome of the race, they were all winners.” Zach Herrick, Contracts Manager
