Aerotek Raises More Than $54,000 In Support of Special Olympics Maryland
More than 100 Aerotek employees braved the bitter cold temperatures on January 30 in support of Special Olympics Maryland at Plungapalooza 2010 featuring the Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge.
Aerotek, a leading U.S. staffing provider based in Hanover and Founding Sponsor of Plungapalooza 2010, was represented by 71 plungers, four super plungers and 30 volunteers from offices across Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania. Aerotek employees who participated in the event raised $54,996 in support of Special Olympics Maryland.
About 15,000 people dove into the Chesapeake Bay during the 14th annual Polar Bear Plunge, including Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco and offensive tackle Adam Terry, raising more than $3 million.
“Plungapalooza 2010 is the largest one-day fundraiser in the state of Maryland and Aerotek is proud that we were able to assist in supporting Special Olympics Maryland,” said Todd Gardner, VP of Marketing and Communications. “This year was one of the coldest in the event’s history, but that didn’t stop Aerotek or the 15,000 other participants from taking the plunge for such a great cause.”
In addition to supporting the Maryland Chapter of Special Olympics, dozens of Aerotek offices across the country also support their local Special Olympic chapters at similar fundraising events and Special Olympic athletic games.
