The need for increased telecommunications services had led to a jump in call center staffing around the U.S., with companies building new facilities and bringing new jobs along with them.

In Springfield, Missouri, Communication Solutions LLC is expanding its call center, which will create about 100 new jobs, ABC affiliate KSPR 33 reports.

According to the news source, the company recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for the facility, which is located at 2645 W. Sunshine St.

"We're going to be adding about 100 new jobs when we open that facility.  We just finished adding 100 new jobs in the last month," said Brian Williams, director of business development. "Always looking for qualified people and our clients continue to want us to do more work for them so we continue to grow."

The company added in a release that the new building will give workers a roomier break room and lunch area, and will allow more natural light to stream in from large windows. A new parking lot will also be built to accommodate for more workers.

The hiring is continuing in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where West Corporation, a technology consultant, recently announced it plans to hire more than 100 workers at its new call center, NBC affiliate News 2 reports.

According to the media outlet, the new positions will include customer service representatives, as well as a number of staff- and management-level positions. To prepare for the new jobs, the company will hold a week-long job fair, where it plans to hold interviews. If the meetings go well, the company said, they may even offer positions the day of the interview.

The duties of the new workers will include answering customer questions, processing product returns and helping customers with sales orders.

According to the latest information from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, professional and business services added some of the most jobs of any industry last month. In total, the professional and business services sector added 47,000 jobs, with employment rising in management and technical consulting services by 9,000, and other related services by 7,000.

Total employment in the sector has increased by 1.5 million since hitting a low during the depths of the recession in September 2009.
