Histology candidate may:prepare histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and patient diagnosis; prepare sections of human or animal tissue for immediate examination; and use rapid tissue processing and frozen section techniques to freeze, cut, mount, process, embed and stain tissue specimens received from surgery, biopsy and anatomical tissues. Histology candidates may also operate computerized laboratory equipment to fix, dehydrate and wax infiltrate tissue specimens to be preserved for study by a pathologist.
