Customer and Industry Knowledge in Aviation Staffing

Aerotek’s aviation staffing division supplies qualified individuals with aircraft-specific experience to support MRO facilities, military aircraft, corporate aircraft, manufacturing & completion centers, rotary wing aircraft and commercial & cargo aircraft.

Customer Profile
The customer is a leading global transportation company, specializing in both the Aerospace and Rail transportation industries. Headquartered in Montréal, Canada, their Aerospace division is the world’s third largest manufacturer of civil aircraft.

Customer Objectives
The customer needed to grow their workforce at their aircraft manufacturing facility, which houses 21 different business units and employs over 50 aviation technical disciplines. They did not have the internal resources to fill critical positions, and their operational leadership was spending significant time screening unqualified candidates. As a result their project timeline was adversely affected, production was slowing and they were incurring costs due to lost production time. They needed a staffing partner with a comprehensive knowledge of their company’s goals and culture and was capable of filling a variety of high-level skill sets with qualified candidates.

Aviation Staffing Solution
Aerotek provided an On-Premise Manager (OPM) to provide the solution for the company’s critical needs. Our OPM was tasked with the objective to increase our customer service level by gaining understanding of the facility’s operations and management. Aerotek’s OPM initiated positive working relationships with all levels of leadership at the facility. Combining our facility-specific knowledge with our aviation recruiting expertise allowed Aerotek to increase both the quality and quantity of candidates we supplied for the customer.

At this facility, Aerotek started 101 contractors in 2011. This number was an increase of over 600 percent in contractor placements from previous years. Throughout the year, only one contractor was terminated, resulting in a negative attrition rate of 1.2 percent.
