Aerotek partnered with this leading electronics manufacturer in 2004. Providing staffing across 19 of the customer’s North American locations, Aerotek delivers on-premise support to 12 of their largest facilities.

The Challenge

Aerotek’s challenge was to help the customer improve workplace safety by decreasing the number and cost of injuries, as well as improving the overall work environment.

The Solution

While staffing a variety of industrial positions, Aerotek saw the need to implement a safety program at the customer’s facility in Louisville, Ky. Aerotek’s team of safety professionals partnered with the customer’s safety managers to review safety training materials and conducted a walk through of the facility. Aerotek observed workers’ job safety performance and consulted with the customer about the safety issues they were having within the workplace.

Aerotek also helped educate the customer’s hiring managers and employees on health and safety matters, as well as to foster a “safety first” working environment through a new health and safety communications program that included:
• Enhanced health and safety information in the new hire orientation handbook
• Monthly safety activity for employees
• Weekly health and safety “walkthroughs” for relevant departments

The Results

Aerotek’s Behavioral Based Safety program helped decrease the customer’s number of injuries by 100 percent in two years, from 41 injuries in 2008 to zero injuries in 2010. The new health and safety communications program was implemented in October 2009.
