Founded in Baltimore, Maryland, by entrepreneurs, Steve Bisciotti and Jim Davis. Aerotek gets it start by supporting engineering staffing for the aerospace and defense industries. Earnings are more than $1 million in revenue in its first year.
1989
The automotive division is started in Michigan to support the engineering staffing needs of automotive manufacturers and suppliers.
1990
Aerotek forms Telecommunications Services, known today as TEKsystems. TEKsystems has been recognised as the top information technology staffing firm in the U.S. (IT Services Business Report)
1992
Aerotek forms a division to focus on staffing the environmental and energy services industries.
1993
Aerotek acquires Onsite Engineering & Management company and merges its environmental and energy services division to create Onsite Environmental & Onsite Engineering & Management.
Aerotek opens its first European office in Slough, England.
1994
The scientific division is formed to support the staffing needs for the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.
1995
Aerotek expands into Canada and opens its first office in Mississauga, Ontario.
1996
Onsite forms a commercial division to provide light industrial, light technical and clerical staffing services.
1997
Aerotek creates a new professional services operating company to support the administrative and professional staffing needs of companies. It is first known as Option One and is later named Mentor 4.
1998
Allegis Group becomes the official name of the parent entity of several operating companies, including Aerotek, TEKsystems and Onsite.
2000
Onsite forms an aviation division to specialise in the placement of mechanics, technicians and specialised personnel to the aviation industry.
2001
Aerotek and Onsite merge to become Onsite Companies. The company exceeds $1 billion in sales.
2004
Onsite Companies changes its name to Aerotek Inc., to leverage the reputation of the Aerotek name. Aerotek is named the No. 1 U.S. provider of engineering staffing. (Staffing Industry Analysts)
2006
Mentor 4 becomes a division of Aerotek and is renamed Aerotek Professional Services to capitalise on the Aerotek brand recognition.
2008
Aerotek acquires the scientific division of Kforce to strengthen the presence of Aerotek’s scientific division within niche scientific industries nationwide. Allegis Group is named the largest staffing company in the U.S. (Staffing Industry Analysts)
2010
Aerotek is ranked the No. 1 clinical/scientific staffing company in the U.S. (Staffing Industry Analysts

Aerotek is named to Inavero’s 2011 Best of Staffing Client List, the largest client satisfaction survey for the staffing industry.2012
