There came a time in my career, after six years as a lead medical receptionist at a small pediatric medical practice, when I realized that, while I enjoyed the work, it didn’t offer opportunities for professional growth.
I got a new job as an Administrative Assistant at a biotech company and thrived because of the diversity of my responsibilities. That job ended four years later when the company executed a massive layoff. It was the first time I’d ever found myself in that situation; I didn’t know what I was going to do next.
It was during the layoff process that I had direct contact with contract staffing agencies; several companies were represented at the separation meeting. I’d never considered contract positions because I didn’t understand them — I didn’t want to work in one place one week, and somewhere else another week. But working with Aerotek turned out to be the best decision I could have made.
Aerotek contacted me with an employment opportunity, and nearly three years later, I’m still at the company I was placed
with; doing work that fits my skills and interests. I support many different people in departments as diverse as Clinical Development, Corporate Strategy, Regulatory Affairs and more. Just recently, I learned my contract had been extended by the company I’m with and that I’ve earned a promotion! I love my job and the work that I do. Aerotek provided the opportunity and found the perfect fit for me.
