Job Summary



Essential Functions:
1. Soils Production Lead
a. Plans daily and weekly production based on need communicated by Production Supervisor.
b. Ensures accurate set up and proper use of all soils bagging lines.
c. Schedules and assigns soils personnel to tasks based off work priority, available equipment and skill of personnel.
d. Ensures accurate time shift start and compliant break & meal periods for all soils department personnel.
e. Assigns personnel to tasks and contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
f. Effectively oversee soils personnel to ensure that all assigned activities are performed effectively and efficiently in accordance with the company's procedures and local, state and federal regulations.
g. Ensures daily and weekly production goals & requirements are met.
h. Tracks, monitors and oversees inventory needs for soils department, communicating immediate and long term needs to production supervisor.
i. Ensures quality and consistency of raw materials used for production meets the standards of the company.
j. Ensures quality and consistency of finished product meets the standards of the company and/or its affiliates.
k. Ensures correct lot and date codes are on all finished products.
l. Ensures personnel have adequate and necessary training in tasks assigned to them.
m. Evaluates safety consciousness, participation and overall work attitude.
n. Ensures safe work practices.
o. Troubleshoots and take steps to repair equipment in soils department.
p. Compiles end of the day manufacturing stats, reviews daily mass balancing and insures information is documented and reported accurately.
q. Documents, tracks and maintains all soils manufacturing clean out logs.

2. Bagging Support
a. Ensures accurate set up and use of all soils bag lines.
b. Proficient in the setup, operating, bagging, cleaning and problem solving of all bag lines.
c. Assists bagging when needed on all bag lines.
d. Ensures an efficient and productive pace is set on all soils line.
e. Ensures empty packaging is being placed into position onto each production line limited waste to less than 2%.
f. Tracks and documents all packaging damage counts.
g. Ensure all equipment is turned off at the end of each day.

3. Sealing Support
a. Ensures accurate set up and use of all heat sealers.
b. Proficient in the setup, running, cleaning and problem solving of all heat sealers.
c. Ensures all soil products contain full, straight and damage free seals.
d. Ensures totes are sealed tightly.
e. Ensures heating elements are working properly on bale line and open mouth line.
f. Ensures an efficient and productive pace is maintained on all soils line at all times.

4. Lot Code Printer
a. Ensures lot and date code printer are working properly.
b. Codes are legible and accurate.
c. Ensures all information being printed is correct.

5. Palletizing Support
a. Ensures pallets are safe for use, free of any defects and are correct size and type.
b. Ensures filled, sealed product in straight, neatly stacked on pallets using pre-determined patterns and counts.
c. Ensures broken or defective bags, bales or totes of product do not make it on finished pallets.
d. Ensures caps are pulled down and that pallet label and placard are straight.
e. Ensures an efficient and productive pace is maintained during palletizing.

6. Quality Control
a. Proficient in all line operator quality control procedures and safety checks.
b. Proficient in identifying product or packaging defects.
c. Takes appropriate quality control parameters at pre-determined times.
d. Works closely with the quality control department on test results taken.
e. Works with the quality control department to identify all lot and date codes.

7. Equipment Operation Support
a. Ensures equipment operation is in accordance with state and federal laws and company policies.
b. Manipulates levers and pedals to drive and control forklifts to:
i. Ensure all direct reports operate equipment in accordance to company policy.
ii. Transport raw materials from indoor storage locations to soil production line bins/hoppers.
iii. Manipulate indoor raw materials storage piles to maintain neat piles and to maximize the use of space.
iv. Transport packaging and raw materials supplies to soils production areas.
v. Transport palletized product to stretch wrapper to be wrapped.
vi. Transport wrapped palletized product to storage areas.
c. Ensures equipment is fueled, cleaned and greased when necessary and/or during down-time.

8. Housekeeping
a. Maintain clean and safe working environment by ensuring all material spilled on, under, or around production equipment and work spaces is cleaned during down-time and at the end of each day.
b. Keeps bag line, mix line, baler, & tote equipment wiped down and clean to insure products do not become contaminated by other materials.
c. Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of everything related to soils production.

9. Safety
a. Ensures pre-operation inspection of all equipment is being performed by operator.
b. Safely operates forklift in accordance with state and federal laws and company policies.
c. Promote, execute and adhere to the companys safety program, and encourage all employees, to adopt safety as a culture.
d. Works in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the well being of others.
e. Participates as a vital team member, and contribute towards the success of the organization.

10. General
a. Regular attendance and timeliness required.
b. All other tasks as assigned.
