Contract to Hire
A national engineering and utilities company is looking for an electrical drafter to joining their team
This client has a ton of work within the utility space. They are working with Utilities from Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana. They are working with NIPSCO, ComEd, Ameren, Duke and WI Energy. They will be working on the teams that support work for all of these utilities. They will be tasked with taking the designs and mark ups form the engineers and putting this information into AutoCAD and/or Microstation. These individuals must have utility drafting experience to be able to understand how to do the work with AutoCAD however the microstation is not necessary to know. They will also be taught on the standards of the company. They will be working a normal workday meaning 8-5. There is a lot of flexibility within the company as long as they do not take advantage of it. The majority of the projects that they will be working on are brownfield meaning that they are doing upgrades on existing substations. They will be looking for someone with an associates degree but not necessarily a bachelors, a bachelors of engineering would be overkill for this role and they would probably get bored within this role. These roles are open because they have a large amount of work and are growing very quickly. This is going to be heavily personality based. Very behavioral and very much looking for a culture fit over ability.
Qualifications: - 0 - 3 years of AutoCAD experience and a desire to get in to the utility/electrical industry
- A background within utilities, someone form a commercial background could potentially be bored in this role
- Someone from a consulting background. Someone that is used to fast paced work on a deadline.
- They are looking for someone that wants to make a career at this company
- Someone that can communicate well, someone that wants to work in a team, someone that asks for more work when they are done with there work so a go getter. They DO NOT want someone that just wants to come in and draft and punch the clock. They want someone that is going to want to learn and grow with the company. A big disqualifier would be someone that has been in a drafting role for many years and never moved up.
