Aerotek Supports Special Olympics Maryland

Aerotek® Inc., a leading provider of recruiting and staffing services, continues to support the Special Olympics Maryland for the ninth consecutive year as the founding sponsor of the Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge, one of the state’s largest events devoted to fundraising for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The event will be held on Saturday, Jan. 26 at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis.

More than 100 Aerotek employees will jump into the Chesapeake Bay on Saturday in support of Maryland Special Olympics, and more than 50 employees will serve as volunteers. Two employees will participate in the “Super Plunge” event – when plungers jump into the Chesapeake Bay 24 times over a 24-hour period. This year’s Aerotek “Super Plungers” will take their pledge one step further by fundraising for their friend and Special Olympics athlete, Jimmy Myrick. Each will plunge an additional 12 times on top of their 24-plunge commitment – bringing their total to 36 plunges in 24 hours.

Jimmy was one of the original “Super Plungers” 10 years ago but, due to health complications, is unable to participate this year. To make a donation to the Special Olympics on behalf of Jimmy, please visit the Polar Bear Plunge website here.

In addition to supporting the Maryland chapter of the Special Olympics, local Aerotek staffing offices across the U.S. support their own local Special Olympic chapters at similar fundraising events and athletic games.
