Client Profile

Our customer is a full-service, multi-trade company offering millwrighting/rigging, mechanical design, custom fabrication, industrial piping, and project management. Our customer provides turnkey solutions ranging from production line relocations, new equipment installations and buildouts to machinery rebuilds, and general maintenance.

Impact

A material handling solutions company gained the flexibility to focus on meeting core business goals by offloading onboarding, performance reporting, and daily workforce management to Aerotek.

Challenge

While challenged by the labor shortage of the early 2020’s, our customer was awarded a project to install order processing equipment in a new facility supporting Canada’s second largest food retailer. To efficiently complete this project, our client needed a partner that could ensure all candidate certification requirements were met while providing detailed reporting. They also needed an on-site manager to quickly onboard candidates, optimize headcount through performance management and coordinate worker travel to multiple jobsites. Having the ability to move fully-trained workers to each location eliminated the need to train new employees at each jobsite.

Solution

Our client selected the construction support solution based on Aerotek’s past performance during a previous project and the strong relationships the companies developed with each other.

Aerotek’s experience in providing on-site workforce management was also key in our customer’s decision.

By providing a Client Engagement Manager (CEM) onsite, Aerotek managed and reported on worker performance while directly supporting employees at the worksite. To ensure compliance, the CEM developed relationships with other vendors to coordinate and track required health and safety certifications including:

  • Associated Safety Professional Certification
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System
  • Lockout/Tagout
  • Powered Elevated Working Platform
  • Fall Protection
  • Forklift Certification

Aerotek also established a weekly reporting schedule to provide transparency into budgeting and performance. The real-time visibility gave our client the necessary flexibility to navigate potential budgeting challenges.

Results

By leveraging Aerotek’s construction support services, our customer was able to overcome their labor challenges and complete the installation. Aerotek’s knowledge and experience in the construction industry was key in identifying the necessary trainings and our relationships with quality vendors created an efficient process for getting all the training completed.

The efforts of Aerotek’s CEM allowed our customer to offload their non-core functions and focus on other business goals. Having a CEM onsite also gave Aerotek workers a resource to resolve or report their concerns which improved retention and engagement. The CEM also ensured that all Aerotek workers were fully certified prior to starting their assignment. This resulted in no Aerotek workers receiving fines or reprimands which could have jeopardized the project.
