Welder Fabricator Job Description
A welder fabricator plays a critical role in manufacturing and construction by fabricating, assembling and welding metal components used in equipment, structures and industrial products. They combine welding expertise with metal fabrication skills to produce high-quality parts that meet precise specifications and safety standards.
Welder fabricators may work across a variety of projects and environments, from custom fabrication and equipment repair to structural and production work. Their versatility allows them to adapt to different materials, project requirements and fabrication challenges while helping keep work on schedule and up to quality standards.
Their responsibilities include:
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings and fabrication specifications to prepare and assemble metal components
- Cutting, shaping, fitting and welding metal using MIG, TIG, stick or other welding processes
- Operating fabrication equipment such as saws, grinders, presses and cutting tools to prepare materials
- Inspecting finished welds and fabricated parts to ensure quality, strength and compliance with project requirements
- Maintaining welding equipment, following safety procedures and ensuring a clean, organized work area
